FOSS4G PAST EVENTS
The Chinese Open Source Geospatial community is pleased to welcome you to Beijing, the site of this year’s global FOSS4G 2012 conference. The FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) conference is the annual gathering for individuals interested in learning about the latest geospatial technologies. Since 2006, successful events have been held in Denver, Colorado (US), Barcelona, Spain; Sydney, Australia; Cape Town, South Africa; Victoria, British Columbia (Canada) and Lausanne, Switzerland.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Participants of FOSS4G Beijing 2012,
With great regret, the FOSS4G Beijing Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has made the difficult decision of cancelling the event due to a lack of financial resources and the unexpected withdrawal of the Professional Conference Organizer. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
For those interested in FOSS4G events, the LOC suggests consider:
* The Asian Geospatial Forum (http://www.asiageospatialforum.org), September 2012, Hanoi, Vietnam, which will have an OSGeo session.
* FOSS4G 2013, to be held in Nottingham, United Kingdom, 2013.

2012-05-28 Call for abstract/paper/workshop/tutorial is opened. [link]
2012-05-06 LOC makes initial agreements with 4 local sponsors.
2012-04-12 The meeting with editor-in-chief of TGIS (prof. John P. Wilson) for continuing the support of foss4g-2012 academic paper publishing on 12 April. (Thank Kobben and Helena for their past works).
2012-04-05 The Foreign Liaison Office of Chinese Academy of Sciences has granted LOC to invite foreign participants.
2012-03-30 About 40% of OSGeo-Live Docs have been translated into Chinese to promote OSGeo software in China. Both English and Chinese version are expected to be handed out in foss4g 2012.
2012-03-30 We have got three Chinese sponsors, including Supermap, LREIS, CAS. And several others are under contacting.
2012-03-15 The conference committees have been established. [link]
2012-02-25 We have got an about 10% discount about hotel (4~5 star level) from Beijing Conference Center if the payment of our participants to hotel goes through the payment system set up by LOC.
